About
Som Prabh is a visual storyteller primarily specialising in documentary & editorial photography whose journey began in Asansol, West Bengal, eventually taking him to the University of the Arts London, where he honed his expertise during his MA in Photojournalism & Documentary Photography. His work is deeply rooted in social narratives, particularly in the intersectional space between environmental, economic & social sustainability. This is best seen in his current long-term investigative project exploring Currently, Som is delving into the realm of scalable & hands-on sustainability through his hospitality project Bauhaus Kumaon — an art retreat and cultural space designed to leverage experiential learning systems to foster connections between tourists, local communities, and artisans. This space is designed to serve as an innovation lab to explore applied design solutions by merging indigenous knowledge systems with contemporary design, technologies & skillsets. Alongside his independent projects, Som actively supports Studio 1947 by contributing his skills in photography, film, storytelling, media curation and UX research. He also plays a key role in the studio’s business development initiatives, helping expand its presence and forge meaningful collaborations. With his ability to weave powerful narratives through visuals and his commitment to cultural preservation, Som continues to bring perspective to the intangible social, environmental & cultural heritages that shape art & design.
